Tulsa, Oklahoma - This past week the Tulsa women's rowing team took center stage in the Allen Chapman Activity Center for the annual Row for Humanity charity event. The women of the oar braved the busy lunch room stares and spent the day erging for charity on the indoor rowing machines. The ergs spun from 8am to 5pm, spreading awareness for the cause during the breakfast, lunch and dinner crowds.

Habitat for Humanity is a nationally recognized not-for-profit that helps families build homes in exchange for their service. Every year the team donates half of all proceeds to Habitat. The rowers, coxswains and coaches volunteered for shifts to show their support for Habitat for Humanity. Tulsa football players and soccer players participated in the event in mini-races.

During the year, the rowing team spends several Saturdays assembling new homes for deserving families with Habitat for Humanity in the Tulsa area.

According to Melissa Urquhart, "It's great to see people on campus hop on the ergs with us. We appreciate the support from the Tulsa community."
