Austin, Texas - The Tulsa women's rowing team captured two of three events in round robin action against the SMU Mustangs on the first day of the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas on Saturday.

The Hurricane captured victories in both Varsity-8 races, but dropped a decision in the Novice-8 category. The day began for the Hurricane with the Novice-8 team finishing behind SMU's 7:11.7 time with a 7:31.0 time. The second Varsity-8 boat outdistanced SMU with a time of 7:16.5 to 7:49.1 for the Mustangs, while the first Varsity-8 race was closer. Tulsa timed a 6:55.6, while SMU was clocked at a time of 7:02.6 in the first Varsity-8 division.

Competition at the Longhorn Invitational was scheduled to be completed on Sunday afternoon.

Tulsa is back in action next Saturday, March 24, as the Hurricane hosts SMU at 12:00 noon at Zink Lake on the Arkansas River.
