Pause at the Release: Heather Brooks March 22, 2011
Pause at the Release is our periodic feature in which we highlight the perspective of one of our student-athletes. In these articles, the athletes share their personal experiences as part of the Golden Hurricane team with our wonderful supporters and community members. Here, you'll find the backstage story on TU Women's Rowing, told through the eyes of the athletes themselves. Check back often to see updates from more of your favorite rowers and coxswains Senior Lightweight, Heather Brooks on TU vs. Harvard Dual Four years ago would Harvard have invited Tulsa to Boston for a dual? No way! But they are now and Tulsa has come to play. Last time the team met with Harvard was at the San Diego Crew Classic last year when the 2v8 surprised everyone and matched Harvard stroke for stroke through the first 1000 meters. We're going to try and stick with them for more than just 1000 meters this time. And not only do we get to play with Harvard, but MIT and BU as well. It is extremely exciting! We are coming off of a solid week of spring training where I know we have gained some speed and all the girls can't wait to step off the plane in Boston and have some fun. We are ready for this. Not only will this be a big day for the lightweights, but it will be huge for the whole team. Come Saturday morning when I'm sitting at the line I'll know without a doubt that everyone else in my boat will be looking to take down Harvard. When all is said and done, win, lose or draw we'll come off the water with smiles on our faces and be proud of what we did.
