Tulsa, Okla. - Pause at the Release is our periodic feature in which we highlight the perspective of one of our student-athletes. In these articles, the athletes share their personal experiences as part of the Golden Hurricane team with our wonderful supporters and community members. Here, you'll find the backstage story on TU Women's Rowing, told through the eyes of the athletes themselves. Check back often to see updates from more of your favorite rowers and coxswains.

Pause at the Release - Longhorn Invitational

We asked junior, Melissa Urquhart, for her thoughts on the Longhorn Invitational and moving into the San Diego Crew Classic.

"I cannot express in words how incredibly proud I am to be a part of this team. This past weekend at the Longhorn Invitational we placed third behind Yale and San Diego, and we were able to defeat long time rivals Texas and Kansas State. This race was particularly exciting because not only was it the beginning of the season, but it allows us to gage the speed of our major competition and see the great potential we have as a team. From this race we gained the momentum we need to continue strong through the season. Even though we still have a long and eventful season ahead of us, it is extremely important to remember that we will face these teams again. This race really helped us gain the confidence to go after the rest of the races we have this season with the fierceness and Golden Hurricane pride that we know will help us win."

"Going into the San Diego Crew Classic we are hungry for more. We are pushing the limits everyday to find more speed. We are excited to stand up against some of the top teams in the country and see what the Golden Hurricane can do. Going into this race we have the freedom and potential to dream big and achieve those dreams."

- Missy Urquhart
