Tulsa Rowers Stiles and Vanasse Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

Irving, Texas - Tulsa rowers Elissa Stiles and Renee Vanasse were named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, as announced today by the league office. To be eligible, the student-athletes must have earned a 3.2 cumulative GPA or better and be a key contributor to their team.
"I am extremely proud of both of these women," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "They represent the highest tradition of not only rowing, but The University of Tulsa, as we stress not only sports, but high academic achievement. We hold that dear on the rowing team and both of these women exemplify what hard work can do. We have a lot of great women on this team that have done fantastic job both in the classroom and the water, and they are shining examples of that."
Stiles, a sophomore from Collinsville, Okla., maintains a 3.9 GPA in Spanish and international studies. She was named to the Tulsa Dean's List as a freshman and the President's List as a sophomore, while being tabbed a C-USA Academic Medal Winner both seasons. Stiles has rowed in all six regattas this season and is a member of the Varsity 4+. Her boat tallied wins over Kansas, Kansas State and Central Oklahoma in the Oklahoma Invitational, recorded a victory over SMU in the Lawless Cup and was named as the C-USA Boat of the Week on April 24th.
A sophomore from Coon Rapids, Minn., Vanasse boasts a 3.9 GPA in economics. She was also named to the Tulsa Dean's List as a freshman and the President's List as a sophomore, while being tabbed a C-USA Academic Medal Winner both seasons. Vanasse is a member of the Varsity 8+ and has competed in all six regattas this year. She helped her boat record wins over Kansas, Kansas State and Central Oklahoma at the Oklahoma Invitational, earn a win over SMU in the Lawless Cup, and record a fifth-place Grand Final finish at the San Diego Crew Classic.
