Irving, Texas - Tulsa's Brooke Helmberger was named to the Conference USA Rowing All-Academic Team, as announced today by the league office. This was Helmberger's second All-Academic Team selection as she also received the honor last season.

Student-athletes must have a 3.2 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore in class standing and be a significant contributor to the team.

"We are really excited for Brooke," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "She is an exceptional young woman and I am pleased she was able to earn this award twice. I'm also sure that she would say she represents a team from which a majority of women could have won this award. Brooke is going off to medical school next year and is a representation of the best of Tulsa and she represents the team really well."

A senior from Papillion, Nebraska, Helmberger has a 3.96 GPA in psychology. She was a C-USA Academic Medal Winner all four years, was named to the Tulsa President's List as a freshman, junior and senior, and to the Dean's List as a sophomore, and picked up Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar Athlete accolades as a sophomore and junior.

Helmberger has been a vital part of TU's Varsity 8+ this season, helping the Golden Hurricane earn two C-USA Boat of the Week accolades for its performance in the Longhorn Invitational and San Diego Crew Classic. Tulsa's Varsity 8+ also earned a fifth-place finish in the Knecht Cup and defeated SMU and Creighton for the Lawless Cup.
