Pause at the Release is our periodic feature in which we highlight the perspective of one of our student-athletes. In these articles, the athletes share their personal experiences as part of the Golden Hurricane team with our wonderful supporters and community members. Here, you'll find the backstage story on TU Women's Rowing, told through the eyes of the athletes themselves. Check back often to see updates from more of your favorite rowers and coxswains.

Puja Sztorc on the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships

Princeton, Radcliffe, Georgetown, Stanford, Wisconsin...As a lightweight rower, one knows that this elite group of schools reigns supreme in the lightweight world, and now it's Tulsa's turn to break into that group. The University of Tulsa belongs within the group as one of the fastest lightweight programs in the country. With our recent win in the Lightweight 4+ at SIRA, it is now possible.

We went into SIRA with only two options, win or lose our chance at racing at the IRA National Championship regatta. Our goal was to win and to qualify for the IRA. We succeeded in our achieving our goal, and we could not be any happier. By achieving this goal, everyone is going to have to take notice that The University of Tulsa is now a major player in the lightweight race to win a national championship. It is a huge challenge, but I know that my fellow lightweight rowers and I are willing to take it on.

The Tulsa lightweight program is propelling forward very quickly towards that elite group. It is incredible to see where this program has been and where it will go in the future. Every day I am thankful for the women who came before me because they have brought me and my fellow boat mates to this point. I cannot wait to line up at the IRA's and make The University of Tulsa known to everyone!
