Ten Tulsa Rowers Selected as CRCA Scholar Athletes

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Ten University of Tulsa rowers were selected as Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Scholar Athletes, as announced by the organization. The Hurricane had four seniors, four juniors and two sophomores receive the accolade.
"I am really proud of these 10 women," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "The athletes we have at Tulsa are really great students as well as athletes and I think that having so many honored show the caliber of women that are at TU. I appreciate the hard work that these women have put in both on and off the water."
Among the honorees are seniors Allyson Brooks (Exercise and Sports Science/3.47), Megan Melott-Elliott (Biochemistry/3.56), Meredith Papps (Athletic Training/3.62) and Amanda Schenk (Sociology/3.65), juniors Zoe Fleischmann (Chemistry/3.82), Brooke Helmberger (Psychology/3.94), Carly Schmidt (Political Science/3.50) and Renee Vanasse (Economics/3.88), and sophomores Allison Kiefer (Nursing/4.0) and Jamie Roloff (Exercise and Sports Science/3.42).
Helmberger, Papps and Vanasse are all three-time honorees, while Fleischmann, Melott-Elliott and Schenk are all two-time recipients.
To qualify for the honor, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in athletic standing, have rowed in the institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75-percent of the current spring races or raced in a regional conference event, and the student-athlete must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher.
