Tulsa, Oklahoma - Michelle Sechser (TU '08) finished fourth in the world on Saturday, August 18th at the World Rowing Championships. The US Lightweight 4x raced at 3:40am CST against Poland, Italy, Denmark, China and Australia.

Poland led from wire to wire. Italy, Denmark and Australia were out in a pack mid-race and then the U.S. and China. After a challenge through the 1000-meter mark, Sechser's boat was able to move into the fourth position, but by the 1500-meter mark they were just too far behind to catch the front three. Order of finish was Poland, Denmark, Italy and the U.S.

Sechser was a four-year letterwinner, who participated in nearly every regatta from 2004-2008. She raced in the Pair, Four and Eight throughout her career, and for her efforts was named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association All-Region Second Team as a junior. Off the water, Sechser was a CRCA National Scholar Athlete as a sophomore, junior and senior, was a C-USA Academic Medal Winner as a junior and senior, and was tabbed to the Tulsa Dean's List all four years.
