Tulsa Rowers Get Season Underway at Head of the Oklahoma

Since the opening of the Donald W. Reynolds Center in 1998, Tulsa�s athletic facilities have undergone a major facelift. New facilities include the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, the Collins Family Softball Complex, the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium, the J. Bird Sr. Shell Nest, the Jack Zink Indoor Rowing Center, the Case Athletic Complex and major renovation to H.A. Chapman Stadium.

TU is 75th among national doctoral universities in U. S. News & World Report's 2012 edition of America's Best Colleges. TU's 2011 freshman class had a mean cumulative grade point average of 3.8, and 74 percent graduated in the top 10 percent of their high school classes. Their average ACT was 28.

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa rowing team will get the season underway on Saturday, Sept. 29th at the Head of the Oklahoma and OG&E Night Sprints in Oklahoma City, Okla. Teams will compete in the 4,000-meter head race beginning at 11:00 am to earn a spot in the 500-meter OG&E Night Sprints.

TU will race in the Lightweight 1x, Novice 4+, Collegiate 4+, Novice 8+ and Collegiate 8+ against Clemson, Central Oklahoma, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, SMU, Stanford and Texas.

"We are excited to get the season started," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "We have the potential to be a really good team. Over half of our team is freshmen and the upperclassmen have done a great job of integrating them into the team and helping to lead them. I am going to evaluate how we are doing this weekend compared to our competition after just three weeks of practice."
