Tulsa Women's Rowing Team to Begin Season at Head of the Oklahoma

Golden Hurricane to compete in six events

Oct. 2, 2008

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa women's rowing team will kick off the 2008-09 season this Saturday, October 4th at the Fifth-Annual Head of the Oklahoma Regatta in Oklahoma City, Okla. Races begin at 12 noon and will continue until 10:00 p.m., with the conclusion of the OG&E NightSprints.

The Golden Hurricane will be joined by host Oklahoma City University, and Central Oklahoma, Harvard, Kansas State, SMU, Stanford, Texas and Washington State in the competition.

"We are really excited and ready to get on the water and race," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "The team has been working hard all fall. The 28 new freshmen have been doing a great job of pushing the team and themselves to get better in every practice. It will be a good opportunity to shake out the cobwebs and figure out how to create speed for the rest of the season."

TU will compete in the Single, Double, Novice 4+, Open 4+, Novice 8+ and Open 8+. Each boat will race a 2.5-mile course and will look to advance to the 500-meter OG&E NightSprints.
