The University of Tulsa women's rowing team begins the fall portion of their schedule this weekend with two regattas in Illinois.

On Saturday, October 7, the squad will be in Moline, Illinois at the Quad Cities Rowing Classic. Their second event of the weekend occurs on Sunday, Oct. 8, at the Head of the Rock Regatta in Rockford, Illinois. "These two meets will be a good gauge on how far our team has come along in preseason practice," said head coach Shaw Tilton. "We need to recognize how well we handle our first time in a competiton and how well we perform in an actual race."

In both of the regattas, the Hurricane will have five boats participating. The team will race one Varsity-8, one Varsity-4, two Novice-8 and one Novice-4 boats. The regattas will be the first career races for Tulsa's novice rowers.

The Quad Cities Rowing Classic will be made up of local area and club teams, while the Head of the Rock Regatta will consist of some of the top squads in the midwest ranging from Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa and Wisconsin.
