Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa women's rowing team is set to compete in the largest regatta in the world, the 44th Annual Head of the Charles Regatta, this Saturday and Sunday, October 18-19, in Boston, Mass.

TU will race in the Club 4+ event on Saturday afternoon, and will compete in the Championship 4+ and Lightweight 4+ on Sunday.

The Golden Hurricane has had a great amount of success at the Head of the Charles in recent years, as Tulsa has posted seven top-10 marks, including a top finish in the Club 4+ event in 2004, under the direction of seventh-year head coach Kevin Harris. Last year, TU claimed an eighth-place mark in the Championship 4+, and 11th-place finishes in both the Club 4+ and the Lightweight 4+.

"The Head of the Charles is a regatta that every rower wants to compete in," Harris said. "It is a great chance to test ourselves against the best in the nation. We have worked hard to create even more speed since opening the season at the Head of the Oklahoma two weeks ago, and are looking to go out and have a good showing for TU."

This year the competition will feature over 7,500 athletes in 55 different events and will be viewed by as many as 300,000 spectators along the Charles River.
