Tulsa Women's Soccer Team Tops Oklahoma, 2-0, in Exhibition Contest
Aug. 11, 2012
Norman, Okla. - The Tulsa women's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over Oklahoma in an exhibition contest on Saturday night in Norman, Okla. This was the only preseason contest for the Hurricane, which will open regular season action against Weber State on Friday, Aug. 17th at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. Tickets are $5 and can purchased at the north ticket gate.
"It was a great way to start the year off," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "The girls played very hard, looked fit, and what we worked on this week in practice really showed through in the game. There are always things to improve on, but it was a great start."
Claire Nicholson put TU on the board in the first of three thirty-minute periods off a cross taken by Claire Hulcer. Rebecca Handley went on to score a goal in the third period as Jordan O'Brien picked up the assist. Collegiate soccer games are normally played in two 45-minute periods, but both coaches elected to play a different format tonight.
Tulsa had a 15-10 advantage in shots, including a 7-5 lead in shots-on-goal, while the Sooners took a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks.
