Claire Nicholson came in off the bench and recorded her second career hat trick as Tulsa dominated Nicholls State, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU moved to 2-1 on the season, while NSU fell to 1-3 overall.

"I am happy that Claire was able to get a second career hat trick," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "Stephanie and Cammy also had great days with two goals and two assists apiece. We were able to play everyone, and even with all of the subs our intensity didn't fall off. Our goal was to come in and play better after our big game on Friday night, and we did that today. It was a great team effort and I am proud of every one of the players."

Camille Pelley scored the game-winning goal with just 54 seconds ticked off the clock as Stephanie Aitken fed her the ball in the box. Aitken and Pelley switched rolls as Aitken scored in the eighth minute with Pelley picking up the assist, and then again in the 21st minute with Pelley scoring her second goal of the game and Aitken earning the assist.

Lexis Learmonth's forward pass set up Nicholson's first goal in the 39th minute to give the Golden Hurricane a 4-0 lead at the break.

In the second half, Aitken chipped in a goal over Colonel goalkeeper Amanda Boylson for her second score of the contest, and once against Pelley tallied the assist. Nicholson registered her second goal on the day at the 70:27 mark as Nikki Pokipala slotted her the ball, and then Nicholson picked up her third goal in the 83rd minute as Katy Riojas earned the assist. Nicholson's previous hat trick was against UAB in 2010.

In all, Nicholson had five shots, all of which were on goal, and scored three goals, while Aitken and Pelley each had two goals and two assists. Katie Bykowski logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up her 21st career shutout.

TU had a 23-2 advantage in shots, including a 14-0 lead in shots on goal, and a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Tulsa will return to action on Friday, August 31st against Missouri State beginning at 5:30 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
