Hurricane Shuts Out Gonzaga, 3-0
Aug 30, 2013
Tulsa, Oklahoma -
Bradi Hinch, Lauren King and Caitlin Jancuska all scored a goal for Tulsa in a 3-0 win over Gonzaga on Friday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU moved to 3-0 on the season, while GU fell to 1-1 overall.
"We knew Gonzaga was going to come out with a lot of intensity and they did," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "I felt like they were all over us early on, but I was proud of the girls for matching their intensity. We got that goal early, and it is always good to start off that way, but we felt we could do better, especially around the box. We settled into the game in the second half and played really well."
Hinch knocked in her goal, her second on the season, off a cross from Camille Pelley with just 56-seconds off the clock for the game-winner.
King picked up a pass from Jancuska and drilled in a goal from 18 yards out on the right side in the 80th minute and just six minutes later Jancuska scored off a corner kick that was played into the box.
Tulsa had an 11-10 lead in shots, including a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal, but the Bulldogs took a 5-2 lead in corner kicks.
TU was led by Kajal Parmar, Hinch and Jancuska with two shots apiece, while five others attempted one shot. Hayley Harryman logged all 90 minutes in goal, picked up four saves and earned her second-straight shutout.
Gonzaga's Heather Johnson took a team-leading seven shots and Christie Tombari earned four saves.
Tulsa will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 4th at Arkansas. Game time is set for 7:00 pm in Fayetteville.
