Tulsa, Okla. -

Tulsa freshmen Kayla Chambers, Shannon Locke and Megan Cash, and sophomore Kristina Corona each registered a goal, while Georgia Southern scored an own goal to lead the Tulsa women's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over the Eagles on Sunday afternoon in the Grover Classic. The classic was hosted by TU at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. The Golden Hurricane owns a 3-2 mark this season.

"We stepped up and stayed focused today," Head Coach Rena Richardson said. "Chambers did a great job starting the TU attack, while Katie Ward and Lauren Gilliland were team leaders on the field. Today's game is a positive step as we prepare for Pepperdine and UC Santa Barbara next weekend."

Chambers knocked in a header off a corner kick from freshman Sarah Greene in the 43rd minute to put Tulsa on the board, and less than two minutes later, Locke punched in a goal from five yards out on the right side to give the Golden Hurricane a two-goal cushion. Both goals were career firsts for the TU duo.

To register her third goal this season, Cash fired into an open net after out-maneuvering GSU goalie Lauren Santos, while Corona earned her second career goal and first goal this season on a cross from Stephanie Johnson in the 71st minute.

"Megan has been a tremendous impact offensively for us this season," Richardson said. "She is great in the air and finds a way to get behind her defenders."

Junior goalkeeper Meredith Hart picked up one save today, as TU out-shot the Eagles 20-3, including an 11-to-1 ratio in shots on goal. She also recorded her second shutout of the season and 11th of her career.

For their efforts in the tournament, Cash, Hart and Chambers were all named to the Grover Classic All-Tournament Team.

Tulsa will take to the road next weekend at the Pepperdine Tournament. The Golden Hurricane will take on host Pepperdine on Friday, September 8th beginning at 7:00 p.m. and UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, September 10th beginning at 1:00 p.m.
