Tulsa Falls to Florida Gulf Coast, 1-0
Kansas City, Mo. - The Tulsa women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Florida Gulf Coast on Friday night in the UMKC Invitational in Kansas City, Mo. The Golden Hurricane fell to 4-2 on the season, while the Eagles moved to 4-1-1 overall. "We didn't have Rachel [Garcia] as our center back, but Caitlin Jancuska and Katelynn Duncan did a great job on defense," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "When you lose a senior in the back it hurts. We really took it to them in the second half, but we played a man down in the final 14 minutes. Claire Hulcer also did a great job for us in the back and ended up leading us in shots, while Lindsay Kirch came in off the bench and helped us out up front. It was a frustrating game and we are disappointed with the outcome, but we will learn from this, make adjustments and get ready for Sunday's game." Kaitlin Parker scored the game-winning goal in the 29th minute as she picked up a pass from the left side and scored from the middle. Hulcer had a team-leading three shots, while Jordan O'Brien added two attempts. Hayley Harryman logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up three saves. The Hurricane had a 9-8 advantage in shots, including a 6-4 lead in shots on goal, and TU had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 9th against UMKC beginning at 2:00 pm in Kansas City, Mo. Scoring Summary Tulsa 0 0 - 0 FGCU 1 0 - 1
