Oct. 9, 2009
Tulsa, Oklahoma -
The University of Tulsa women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to East Carolina on Friday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU fell to 5-6-2 on the season and 2-3 in Conference USA, while ECU moved to 8-3-2 overall and 3-2 in the league.
"We knew ECU was a very good team and that it would be a battle for 90 minutes," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "I was pleased with our enthusiasm and level of intensity on the field, but we just came out on the short end. We played one of our better games this season, we just couldn't get a goal."
Caty Butler scored the Pirates' goal at the 9:18 mark from 12 yards out.
Katie Bykowski logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up five saves.
Tulsa will return to action on Sunday against Marshall. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Hurricane Stadium. It is Breast Cancer Awareness Day, so fans wearing pink will receive free admission.
