Tulsa Women's Soccer Team Battles East Carolina to 0-0 Double-Overtime Tie
Oct. 14, 2012
Greenville, N.C. -
The Tulsa women's soccer team battled East Carolina to a 0-0 double-overtime tie on Sunday afternoon at the ECU Soccer Stadium in Greenville, N.C. TU moved to 8-5-3 on the season and 3-3-2 in Conference USA, while ECU moved to 8-5-3 overall and 4-1-3 in the league.
"I thought we played well," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "This is our second-straight weekend on the road and we really showed our resilience today. The team came out and worked hard today. We were unfortunate not to get the win as we had more shots and corner kicks, but we just couldn't get a goal. Anytime you can go on the road and get a win and a tie, it is a good weekend. It will be good to come home and play at home next weekend."
Claire Nicholson came off the bench and tallied a team-best five shots, while Bradi Hinch had four attempts, and Raven Tatum and Claire Hulcer each had three shots. Katie Bykowski logged all 110 minutes between the posts, recorded six saves and earned her fourth shutout on the year.
The Golden Hurricane had a 22-15 lead in shots, including a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal, and a 6-2 lead in corner kicks.
"We got two shutouts on the road, so both of our goalkeepers played well, and our back line played well," Cussen said. "Tori came in and played most of today and did some really good things for us, and Bradi played in the midfield and was aggressive today."
Tulsa will return to action on Friday, Oct. 19th against Memphis. Game time is set for 6:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
