Tulsa Women's Soccer Team Drops 1-0 Decision to UTEP
Oct. 20, 2013
Tulsa, Oklahoma -
The Tulsa women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to UTEP on Sunday afternoon at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU fell to 9-6-1 on the season and 3-3-1 in Conference USA, while the Miners moved to 10-4-3 overall and 3-2-2 in the league.
"It was one of those days again," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "I thought we played well and I thought we created chances. We outshot them 11-9, only giving up two chances in the second half to them. We had two goals called back, which was unfortunate, and it seems like when things aren't going your way, they aren't going your way. I think the biggest thing is what we do from here. We are fighting now to get into the playoffs and our girls know that. We feel good about how we are playing, but we have to get the finished product. We have to score goals that count."
Azia Nicholson headed in the lone goal of the contest at the 63:09 mark off an assist from Jade Babcock. Nicholson's goal was her ninth of the season.
Tulsa had an 11-9 lead in shots, while both teams had four shots on goal, and the Hurricane had a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Tulsa will return to action on Friday, October 25th against UAB. Game time is set for 7:30 in Birmingham, Ala.
