Four NCAA Tournament teams from the 2012 season, including a home game against national runner-up Penn State, highlight the 2013 women's soccer schedule, as announced today by Head Coach Kyle Cussen. The Hurricane schedule also features 10 teams that posted double-digit wins a year ago.

"We are excited about our upcoming fall season," Cussen said. "The schedule is going to be very challenging, but it will help enhance our RPI. We have a couple of strong non-conference games that will help prepare us for our conference schedule."

The Golden Hurricane finished last season with 12 wins, including nine shutouts, a runner-up finish in the Conference USA Championship and outscored its opponents 37-17.

TU will begin the season on Aug. 23rd at home against Houston Baptist, a team that posted 10 wins a year ago. The two teams' only previous meeting came in 1987, the first year of the program for Tulsa, when the Hurricane earned a 4-1 victory.

Tulsa will then make the trip to Missouri State on Aug. 25th before returning home to host Gonzaga on Aug. 30th. Both teams posted eight wins last season. TU has an 8-5-2 lead in the all-time series with the Bears, while this will be the first meeting on the soccer pitch with the Bulldogs.

The Hurricane will begin September with a pair of road games, including Arkansas on Sept. 4th and cross-town rival Oral Roberts on Sept. 6th. Tulsa maintains a strong advantage in the series against Oral Roberts with a 14-4-5 record, but the 2012 contest ended in a 1-1 tie. The Golden Eagles tallied 12 victories last season.

TU then hosts Arkansas State and Penn State on Sept. 13th and 15th, respectively. The Red Wolves earned 11 wins last season, while Lions boasted 21 victories, and finished the season as the NCAA Tournament runner-up and ranked No. 2 in the NSCAA poll. The Tulsa-ASU series is tied 2-2, while this is the first meeting between the Hurricane and Penn State.

TU travels to California for a pair of road games at Cal State Northridge on Sept. 20th and at UC-Riverside on Sept. 22nd. The Matadors netted 11 wins, won the Big West Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament a year ago. This will be the first meeting between the Hurricane and both the Matadors and Highlanders.

Tulsa begins the Conference USA slate with two home contests, including LA Tech on Sept. 27th and Florida Atlantic on Sept. 29th. The Bulldogs earned 12 wins last season, while the Owls picked up five victories. This will be TU's first meeting with both teams.

The Hurricane will then go on a three-game road swing to Southern Miss (Oct. 4th), Rice (Oct. 6th) and Colorado College (Oct. 12th). The Owls and Tigers shared the league's regular season title last season with 11 and 14 wins, respectively. Colorado College also played in the NCAA Tournament first round. Tulsa has a 6-0-1 advantage in the series with the Golden Eagles, but trails in the series against Colorado College.

Up next, TU will host North Texas on Oct. 18th and UTEP on Oct. 20th. The Mean Green tallied 16 wins, won the Sun Belt Conference Championship and played in the NCAA Tournament first round, while the Miners also finished with double-digit victories (10). North Texas has a 3-2 lead in the series with TU, while the Hurricane has an 8-7-2 advantage against UTEP.

Tulsa makes the trip to UAB on Oct. 25th and Marshall on Oct. 27th before closing out the regular season at home against UTSA on Nov. 1st. The Hurricane has a 5-2-1 lead in the series with the Blazers and a 5-2 advantage against the Thundering Herd, while this will be the first meeting with the Roadrunners.

Rice will host the 2013 Conference USA Championship in Houston, Texas.
