TU Soccer Teams to Host Doubleheader This Sunday Oct. 14, 2000 Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa men's and women's soccer teams will continue conference play this Sunday in a soccer doubleheader at McAuliffe Field (6501 S. Garnett). The TU men squares off against Bradley at 12:05 p.m., while the Hurricane women's team follows at 2:35 p.m. against Hawaii. Admission to the event is free. The Hurricane men's squad (7-5, 2-3 MVC) continues a four-game homestand in Missouri Valley Conference action against the Bradley Braves (10-3-1, 3-2). TU enters the contest in a two-game slump. The Hurricane fell to #6 SMU, 1-0, in Dallas on Oct. 8, and then dropped a, 3-2, decision to Eastern Illinois this past Friday. Bradley comes into the match on a three-game win streak. The Braves upset 23rd-ranked Southwest Missouri State, 2-1, in Springfield on Friday. Tulsa leads the overall series with Bradley, 6-1. The Hurricane's only loss to the Braves was a 3-1 setback during the 1992 campaign. The last time the school's squared off was during the 1995 season in Tulsa. TU blanked Bradley, 3-0, in that game. The Tulsa Golden Hurricane women's team (8-5-1, 3-2 WAC) hosts the Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine (4-9-1, 1-2-1 WAC) in Western Athletic Conference play. Sunday's game is the final WAC home game of the season for Tulsa. The Hurricane has won two straight games coming into the Hawaii contest, including a 3-0 shutout victory over Nevada this past Friday.
Hawai`i fell to UTEP, 1-0, last Friday in El Paso. The Wahine leads the series with the Golden Hurricane, 1-0, after capturing a 1-0 decision last season in Honolulu.
