Tulsa's Wilson Earns Weekly WAC Honor

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Tulsa freshman goalkeeper Kelly Wilson has been named the Western Athletic Conference women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced today by the WAC office
Wilson, a native of Highland Village, Texas, helped the Golden Hurricane defeat SMU, 2-1, giving the Mustangs their first conference loss since 1999. In the win over the Mustangs, Wilson picked up 17 saves, a school record, and one short of the conference single-match record. Wilson came up with clutch saves time after time against SMU and reestablished the school record of 14, which was previously held by Melissa Mitchell against Texas in 1994. The victory for Tulsa was its first against SMU since a 1-0 triumph over the Mustangs 10 years ago in 1992.
Despite losing to UTEP in poor playing conditions, she earned 13 saves held the Miners to just two goals for only the third time this season. In two games, Wilson finished with 30 saves.
