Irving, Texas - The Tulsa women's soccer team had a league-best five players named to the Conference USA Women's Soccer All-Academic Teams, as announced today by the league office. Claire Hulcer was tabbed to the first team, while Katie Bykowski, Rebecca Handley, Hayley Harryman and Claire Nicholson were second-team selections.

Hulcer, a senior defender from St. Louis, Mo., maintains a 3.95 GPA in marketing. She was named to the Tulsa Dean's List and was a C-USA Academic Medal Winner as a sophomore and junior, and was tabbed to the Capital One Academic All-District VII first team last season. Hulcer has started all 18 games, has two goals and a team-best eight assists for 12 points, and has helped the Hurricane record eight shutouts on the year. Hulcer is a two-time, first-team C-USA All-Academic Team honoree as she picked up the same accolade a year ago.

A senior goalkeeper from Tulsa, Okla., Bykowski has a 3.37 GPA in management information systems and marketing. She was a C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient four times, and was tabbed to the Tulsa Dean's List once and the Tulsa Athletic Director's Honor Roll three times. Bykowski has started 10 games in goal, logged 931 minutes between the posts, picked up 45 saves and posted five shutouts on the season.

Handley, a senior forward from St. Louis, Mo., maintains a 3.726 GPA in marketing. She was named to the Tulsa Dean's List as a sophomore and junior, was a C-USA Academic Medalist as a sophomore, and was tabbed to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll as a junior. Handley has started all 19 games this season and has a team-high seven goals and one assist for 15 points.

A junior goalkeeper from Edmond, Okla., Harryman has a 4.0 GPA in psychology, was named to the Tulsa President's List and was a C-USA Academic Medal Winner as a sophomore. Harryman has started nine games in goal, recorded 850 minutes between the posts, picked up 43 saves and posted three shutouts on the year.

 

 

Nicholson, a junior forward from Overland Park, Kan., has maintained a 3.753 GPA in exercise and sports science. She was named to the Tulsa Dean's List and was a C-USA Academic Medal Winner as a freshman and sophomore, and is a two-time, second team C-USA All-Academic Team honoree as she picked up the same accolade a year ago. Nicholson has started in 10 of 17 games this season, and has five goals and three assists for 13 points.
