Tulsa, Oklahoma - Three student-athletes from the Tulsa men's and women's soccer teams have been named to the 2005 CoSIDA Academic All-District VI First Teams. Junior Katie Ward was selected to the women's squad, while senior Matt Wiley and junior Matt Thomas were each named to the men's team.

Ward is a 5'8" forward from Waco, Texas, and is first time selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VI first team, but was named to the second team last season. She is a two-time member of the President's List and Western Athletic Conference All-Academic team. This season, she started all 20 games and led the team in scoring with 21 points on nine goals and three assists. She was also the top goal scorer and was third for assists and second for game-winning goals with two. Ward is a three-year letterwinner and starter, who has started 58 of 59 career games and boasts career statistics of 15 goals and 12 assists for 42 points.

Ward has maintained a perfect 4.00 GPA in physics.

Wiley is a 6-foot midfielder from Carrollton, Texas, who is a repeat selection to the all-district first team and was a 2004 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America second team performer. He is a three-year member of the TU President's List and was named to the 2004 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete team. Wiley has started 16 of 17 games this season and is Tulsa's third-leading scorer with three goals and three assists for nine points. He also ranks third on the team in goals and is tied for second in assists, and is the team leader for game-winning goals with two. A four-year letterwinner and two-year starter, he has started 39 of 59 games and his career numbers include seven goals and five assists for 19 points.

Wiley has maintained a perfect 4.00 grade-point-average (GPA) in philosophy.

A 5'7" midfielder from Oklahoma City, Okla., Thomas is a first-time performer on the CoSIDA Academic All-District VI first team. He is a two-year member of the TU Dean's List and was an honorable mention all-MVC Scholar-Athlete a year ago. Thomas has started 11 of 15 games this season and has two assists on the year. His is a three-year letterwinner and starter, who has started 33 of 50 games and has produced three goals and six assists for 12 points.

Thomas has maintained a 3.94 GPA in Biochemistry.
