| Diary #3- A Great Weekend
Week of September 20-27 After two tough games at Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, we came to practice on Tuesday knowing we had to pick up our level of play. We had a great week of practice. The practices were very intense and competitive. We focused on team and individual defending. Everyone was very excited about the upcoming weekend. Most of our families were in town and it was homecoming. Heading into Friday's game against Northern Iowa we had our sights set on winning and we wouldn't settle for anything less. From the opening whistle, we dominated the game and never looked back. We lit up the scoreboard, scoring three goals and winning 3-0. It was a great victory but we knew weren't finished, we had one more game to play the next day. There wasn't much time for recovery, so everyone headed for the cold tub after our game to try to recover faster. On Saturday, we had our usual pre-game at Panera. Unlike Friday, it was a lot cooler on Saturday. Once again, from the opening whistle we came out with the same intensity and drive as the game before and won 4-0. Overall, we had a great weekend, shutting out both of our opponents and scoring seven goals. Lauren Gilliland received the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week. We do not have much time before our next game, which is Wednesday at Oral Roberts. Coach Richardson gave us Sunday and Monday off to recover. On Sunday we all went to the guys game and cheered them on against #1 ranked New Mexico. Tuesday was a light practice. We worked on pattern runs and possession. Overall, it was a great week. We are very excited about our upcoming game against our cross-town rivals, ORU. Have a great week! Go HURRICANE! #4 Krista Barker
