Jamie Boyd is in her second season on the Golden Hurricane coaching staff.
Boyd's main responsibilities include working with the Hurricane infield and coaching at 1st base. She came to TU after serving as the Head Softball Coach at Lake Highlands High School in Richardson, Texas, for two seasons. While at LHHS, she doubled the Wildcats win total from her first season to her second. In 2005, Lake Highlands had more wins than in the previous three years combined. Three of Boyd's players earned spots on the all-city team, as well as one earning a spot on the all-conference team.
Boyd played collegiately at the University of Nebraska, where she helped lead the Cornhuskers to three Big 12 titles and a Women's College World Series appearance as a four-year starter at first base.
Boyd still ranks among the top 10 on several Nebraska career charts, including at bats (third, 609), hits (ninth, 194), doubles (eighth, 32), home runs (fifth, 27), RBI (10th, 112), total bases (eighth, 397) and walks (fourth, 84). One of the best defensive players in school history at NU, she boasted a .992 career fielding percentage, committing just 14 errors in 1,859 chances.
While at Nebraska, Boyd was a four-time member of the Academic All-Big XII First-Team. In 2001, she was a Verizon Academic All-American and a finalist for the Nebraska Student-Athlete of the Year Award. A three-time member of the All-Big XII softball team, she served as team captain as a junior and senior and was selected to the All-Midwest Region Softball Team in 2000. In addition to earning the Student-Athlete of the Year award during her career, Boyd was also named Most Valuable Player, Best Defensive Player and Most Improved Player while in Lincoln.
Boyd, formerly Jamie Fuente, is a Tulsa native and graduated from Union High School. An all-around athlete for the Redskins, Boyd earned all-state honors in both softball and basketball. She is married to former TU golfer and PGA Tour player Michael Boyd.
