BOCA RATON, Fla. - Tulsa fell to Florida Atlantic 1-0 in eight innings under International Tiebreaker rule Saturday evening in the FAU Kick-Off Classic.

Sophomore Caitlin Sill (1-1) went the distance for the Golden Hurricane (3-1), allowing five hits and striking out three. FAU (2-2) scored its lone unearned run when Christina Martinez hit a two-out single through the left side, scoring Sarah Howell.

Tulsa totaled three hits - one each by seniors Jill Barrett and Haley Henshaw, and freshman Maggie Withee.

Barrett and Withee each singled in the sixth inning, but a pair of fielder's choice groundouts ended the inning. Henshaw singled in the seventh inning, but the Hurricane was unable to move the runner past first base. In the eighth, TU bunted placed runner Erica Sampson to third, but a strikeout and groundout ended the top of the frame.

The Owls loaded the bases with three straight one-out singles, but Sill coaxed two fly outs to end the threat. The first FAU batter in the eighth aingled, but after a double play, Martinez singled home Howell.

The Golden Hurricane concludes the tournament at noon Sunday against Northern Illinois.
