BOCA RATON, Fla. - Tulsa fell to Florida Atlantic 1-0 in eight innings under International Tiebreaker rule Saturday evening in the FAU Kick-Off Classic.
Sophomore Caitlin Sill (1-1) went the distance for the Golden Hurricane (3-1), allowing five hits and striking out three. FAU (2-2) scored its lone unearned run when Christina Martinez hit a two-out single through the left side, scoring Sarah Howell.
Barrett and Withee each singled in the sixth inning, but a pair of fielder's choice groundouts ended the inning. In the eighth, TU bunted placed runner Erica Sampson to third, but a strikeout and groundout ended the top of the frame.
The Owls loaded the bases with three straight one-out singles, but Sill coaxed two fly outs to end the threat. The first FAU batter in the eighth aingled, but after a double play, Martinez singled home Howell.
