COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Aimee Creger struck out 15 in a two-hit 4-0 shutout of Oregon State, and Tulsa closed the day with a 3-2 victory over McNeese State at the Aggie Classic Saturday at the Aggie Softball Complex.

Creger (3-0) allowed singles in the first and third innings, and retired the final 13 batters she faced. The Golden Hurricane (9-1) tallied 10 hits in the morning game against Oregon State, scoring a run in the fifth inning and three insurance runs in the seventh.

Tulsa responded to a McNeese State run in the top of the first with three in the bottom of the frame, and held on for the 3-2 win. Caitlin Sill (2-1) pitched 5.1 innings striking out three and allowing one earned run on five hits to pick up the win. Bailey Erwin pitched the final 1.2, struck out two batters and earned her first save of the season.

The Hurricane closes out the tournament against No. 8 Texas A&M at 12:15 p.m. Sunday. Live stats and live audio will be available through the Texas A&M website.

"Aimee was outstanding in the first game," Tulsa Head Coach John Bargfeldt said. "(Catherine) Horner jumped on the first pitch of the inning and got us a run on the board, and we scored three in the last inning to give us some breathing room. I think the tone of the day was set by Aimee. She was getting ahead of hitters and getting a lot of swings and misses.

"The second game was one of those types of games we've had a lot this year. The players stayed focused and battled through. I thought Sill did a great job of fighting, even though she was battling her command all day. She put us in a position to win, and then Bailey came in with a great save."

Against Oregon State, Tulsa put runners in scoring position in the second and third innings, and finally broke through with a run when sophomore catcher Catherine Horner homered to left center in the fifth to give TU a 1-0 lead.

Horner singled and scored in the seventh on a base hit by senior second baseman Shelby Blanton. Junior left fielder Erica Sampson walked, and freshmen designated player Jill Roye doubled to center field, scoring both Blanton and Sampson, making the score 4-0. Melanie Dembinski (0-1) took the complete-game loss for Oregon State.

In Game 2, McNeese State scored in the top of the first inning when left fielder Lauren Langner singled and moved around to score on a base hit to left by shortstop Katie Roux.

Tulsa responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-1 lead. Senior shortstop Jill Barrett led off with a walk, and Sampson drew a one-out base on balls, and Roye, junior first baseman Julie Kernen and senior center fielder Cierra Hughes followed with consecutive RBI hits. Roye singled home Barrett, Kernen doubled to plate Sampson, and Hughes singled through the left side to score Kernen.

That was all the scoring the Hurricane would need in the contest. McNeese State added an unearned run in the third inning when center fielder Alanna DiVittorio walked and scored on an error in center field off the bat of catcher Ashley Modzelewski. Bianca Lilly (1-1) allowed three runs in the first inning and took the loss for the Cowgirls. Jamie Allred pitched the final 5.2 innings, recording nine strikeouts and four hits.
