TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Junior Aimee Creger tallied 11 strikeouts in the circle and junior outfielder Haley Henshaw hit a two-run home run to lead the Tulsa softball team to a 4-1 win over No. 25/21 Florida State in the finals of the unconquered Invitational Sunday at JoAnne Graf Field.

Creger (4-0) allowed just four hits and zero earned runs with three walks to earn the victory for the Golden Hurricane, which moved to 7-3 on the season. FSU starter Monica Perry allowed four runs in 2.1 innings, and took the loss for the Seminoles (7-2).

"I was glad to see them come out and be aggressive and swing the bats with some authority," TulsaHead Coach John Bargfeldt said. "We got out of on ejam in the second inning, but other than that, it was a dominant pitching performance. Aimee settled in and started pitching ahead in the count."

Henshaw's homer came as part of a three-run first inning for the Hurricane, which served as the home team in the game. Senior center fielder Caitlin Everett led off with a base hit down the left field line and scored on a two-out single through the left side by senior designated player Lacey Middlebrooks. Hensahw then launched the first pitch she saw over the center field fence, her second dinger of the weekend.

The Hurricane picked up its fourth run in the third inning, as senior shortstop Samantha Cobb hit a one-out single up the middle to score Everett, who led off the frame with a double to left field.

Florida State scored its run in the second inning when left fielder Morgan Bullock reached on an error with the bases loaded and two out, driving home designated player Kelly Hensley, who had drawn a one-out walk.

Creger scattered three Seminole hits over the final five innings, allowed just four baserunners, and recorded 10 of her 11 strikeouts in that span.

The Golden Hurricane returns to action next weekend at the Texas Invitational, where it will face Texas, Lamar and Utah State. TU opens the tournament at 1:30 p.m. Friday against Utah State.
