ARLINGTON, Texas - Freshman Aimee Creger threw a no-hitter in a, 3-0, Tulsa win over UT Arlington, and the Golden Hurricane defeated Creighton, 5-3, to sweep the first day of the UTA Classic at Allan Saxe Field.

Creger pitched her second no-hitter in as many starts. She previously no-hit Long Island on Feb. 19. The Golden Hurricane (7-5) scored three runs on six hits to defeat the Mavs. In the first game Friday afternoon, TU scored five runs on nine hits to take out Creighton.

The Hurricane plays Centenary at 11 a.m. Saturday. The four-team tournament will filter into bracket play Saturday afternoon, with the semifinals, while the championship and consolation games will be played Sunday.

"This was one of those games where we didn't feel like (Creger) was ever in any danger," Tulsa Head Coach John Bargfeldt said. "It was a pretty dominating performance. She seemed to be in a really nice rhythm and her pitches seemed to be really explosive today."

Tulsa scored one run in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth. The Hurricane had runners on first and second in the first inning, but broke through with its first run in the fourth. Junior second baseman Skylar Swanson scored on a base hit play to right field by sophomore left fielder Keri Leach. Swanson, who reached on a fielder's choice, moved to third on an error by the right fielder and scored on the play.

In the fifth inning, sophomore center fielder Caitlin Everett drew a one-out walk and stole second, and freshman third baseman Jill Barrett followed with a bunt single putting runners on the corners. Sophomore shortstop Samantha Cobb hit into a fielder's choice which scored Everett and allowed all runners to reach safely. Swanson followed with a single to short, scoring Barrett.

"The first two weekends we had a tough time getting going. That was something we had focused on coming in, and that's what we did," said Bargfeldt.

Creger was masterful throughout the game. Only two runners reached second base, and she walked just three batters.

Tulsa 5, Creighton 3

In its first game of the day, Tulsa defeated Creighton, 5-3. Sophomore Lacey Middlebrooks earned the win for TU. Senior Lauren Menke drove in two runs, and Creger went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
