JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville used a sixth-inning home run to push past The University of Tulsa softball team, 1-0, Monday afternoon at JU Softball Complex.

The Golden Hurricane fell to 16-6 overall. TU, which is 2-1 in Conference USA after a series win at UCF over the weekend, returns home to play East Carolina March 17-18.

Kalynn Schrock (3-2) went the distance in the circle for Tulsa. She scattered five hits, and allowed runners beyond first base in only two frames. The Dolphins (14-9) loaded the bases in the third inning, but a pop out ended the threat.

Amanda Schmidt led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a home run to left field for the game's only score. Jacksonville starter Sarah Sigrest (10-3) allowed three hits and struck out seven in the complete-game win.

Caitlin Everett had a pair of base hit - a bunt and a single up the middle - and Jill Barrett singled to left for the Hurricane.

The Golden Hurricane plays host to East Carolina Saturday and Sunday at the Collins Family Softball Complex. The teams play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m., and a single game Sunday at noon.

Tickets to TU home softball games are $5.00 general admission and can be purchased at the gate. Youth softball girls are admitted FREE when wearing their team jersey/uniform.
