MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Lacey Middlebrooks pitched a no-hitter to lead the Tulsa softball team to an 8-0 game-two win at Memphis, as the Golden Hurricane swept Saturday's doubleheader with a 4-2 (8 inn.) game-one win at Tigers Softball Complex.

It was the first career no-hitter for Middlebrooks (8-2). Third baseman Jill Barrett and shortstop Samantha Cobb each drove in two runs for the Golden Hurricane (22-5, 5-0 C-USA). Center fielder Caitlin Everett went 5-for-5 at the plate, tying the school record for hits in a single game.

In the midst of her 5-for-5 game, Everett became Tulsa's all-time leading hitter. She now has 251 career hits, breaking the previous record of 246 by Lauren Lindsay (2007-10). With her two RBI, Cobb became Tulsa's all-time leading run producer. She now has 166 RBI, breaking Lindsay's former record of 164 RBI.

"I'm pleased with getting two wins. Anytime you go on the road and face a familiar opponent like a conference opponent, you always know you're in for a tight game," Tulsa Head Coach John Bargfeldt said. "I thought we played well in those tight-game situations to come out with a victory in that first game. Then we really jumped out in game two. We've done that several times this year when it puts your pitcher at ease a little bit.

"I can't think of a ball that was hit hard. The hardest ball that was hit was a comebacker to her that she turned for a double play. I thought that her ball was moving very well, and for the most part, she was keeping them off balance. She did an excellent job of missing the barrel of their bats today."

In Game 1, the teams needed eight innings to score any runs. In the top of the eighth, the Golden Hurricane broke a scoreless tie with four runs. First baseman Julie Kernen hit a two-run single to provide the final two runs. Right fielder Cierra Hughes scored on a fielder's choice and catcher Cassidy Bowen came home on an error.

Tulsa picked up its runs much earlier in Game 2, scoring three in the top of the first. The Hurricane then added a pair of runs in the second inning, one more in the sixth, and two more scores in the top of the seventh.

The only baserunners allowed by Middlebrooks were on three walks and an error. She struck out two batters, and kept the Tigers hitters off balance all day, inducing 17 ground ball outs in the game.

The Golden Hurricane and Tigers conclude the series at 1 p.m. Sunday.

"Since I've been here, you look at past players, they are absolutely two of the best players that have ever come through the program," Bargfeldt said of Cobb and Everett. "You kind of saw that they were going to have a shot at doing some special things here at Tulsa, and boy they have. They've both been so important to our program and what's happened the last few years. Everything that they get, they definitely deserve, with the work that they put in, and the passion that they play the game with."
