TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa softball team dropped an 8-0 decision to Northern Iowa in five innings Thursday evening at the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex.

The Golden Hurricane (15-12) opens its Conference USA home slate this weekend with a series against East Carolina. The series begins with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. and concludes with a single game Sunday at noon.

Designated player Cassidy Bowen singled, and left fielder Jessica Stoelke doubled for Tulsa. Northern Iowa scored four runs in each of the first and fifth innings. TU starter Jordan Kinard (5-4) took the loss. Kalynn Schrock relieved Kinard to begin the second inning, and struck out six batters in 4.0 innings of work. UNI starter Jen Larsen (8-2) earned the win.

Tulsa's two hits provided its only base runners of the game. UNI first baseman Eranne Daugharthy hit two three-run home runs to lead the Panthers. The first run of the game scored on an illegal pitch, and Daugharthy homered. In the fifth, UNI hit an RBI single and Daugharthy homered a second time.

Tickets for all Tulsa softball home games are $6 for adults and $4 for youth. Tickets can be purchased at the TU Athletics Ticket Office, by calling 631-GoTU (4688), or at the gate.
