TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa softball team gave up two hits in 12 innings and shortstop Jill Barrett went 4-for-6 with five RBIs and three runs scored in two games as No. 17 Tulsa (27-3, 5-0 C-USA) to a 7-0 win in game one over the 49ers (10-14, 2-6 C-USA) and a 9-0 win in five innings in game two.

"We were clicking on all cylinders today with the hitting, pitching and the defense," TU head coach John Bargfeldt said. "When they are clicking on all cylinders they're tough to be beat. You throw out two pitchers that throw shutouts with one hitters and you have the hitting that went out and jumped out in front in both games and flawless defensive play."

Aimee Creger (12-1) gave up her only hit of the game with one out in the top of the seventh inning to record her fifth shutout of the season in game one. Creger struck out 14 batters with three walks in 7.0 innings. Caitlin Sill (7-2) went the distance in game two pitching 5.0 innings, giving up one hit, a bunt single, with two strikeouts.

"They had a really good dominating day," Bargfeldt said on the pitching performances in both games. "When they are locating the ball where they want to and they've proven all year long that they are going to be tough to get good swings on and that's what happened today."

Barrett went 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and three RBIs and third baseman Maggie Withee scored twice in game one, while Barrett went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs and first baseman Julie Kernen and right fielder Haley Henshaw added two RBIs each in game two.

Game One (Tulsa 7, Charlotte 0)

Center fielder Cierra Hughes broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI triple to center field and catcher Catherine Horner's RBI sacrifice fly gave Tulsa a 2-0 lead after two innings.

The Golden Hurricane scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Tulsa a 5-0 lead. Withee started the fifth inning with a single to second base and advanced to second after a throwing error by the second baseman.

Henshaw walked to put runners on first and second with no outs. Barrett's RBI single scored Withee, but the ball got past the center fielder to allow Henshaw to score from first and put Barrett on third with no outs for a 4-0 lead. First baseman Jill Roye's RBI single down the right field line scored Barrett for a 5-0 lead.

The Golden Hurricane scored the final two runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 7-0 lead.

Left fielder Jodi Edmiston started the inning with a single to center field and stole second base. After a strikeout for the first out of the inning, Horner walked to put runners on first and second with one out.

Withee reached on a fielder's choice to third base that got Edmiston out at third, but a Barrett single brought home two runs of Horner and Withee for two RBIs.

Lexi Betancourt (9-8) went the distance pitching 6.0 innings giving up seven runs, five earned runs, on six hits with six walks and three strikeouts. Chelsea Lisikatos recorded the only hit for the 49ers with a blooper down the left field line.

Game Two (Tulsa 9, Charlotte 0 (5))

The Golden Hurricane got on the board early with five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Barrett led off the inning with a single to left center and after a strikeout, Sampson walked to put runners on first and second with one out.

Roye singled up the middle to score Barrett to put the Golden Hurricane on the board with a 1-0 lead. Edmiston's sacrifice fly to center field scored Sampson for a 2-0 lead. A Hughes walk put runners on first and second with two outs, but Kernen's double down the right field line brought home Roye and Hughes, who was on second and third after a wild pitch, to give the Golden Hurricane a 5-0 lead.

Withee walked and Henshaw singled to the right side to load the bases with two outs for Barrett at the top of the order. Barrett popped out to the catcher on a bunt to end the Hurricane threat.

The Golden Hurricane scored the final four runs of the game in the bottom of the third inning. After a groundout to start the inning, Hughes walked, but was thrown out at second base after the center fielder dropped the ball to put Kernen on first on a fielder's choice.

Withee singled to the right side to put the runners on the corner with two outs and Henshaw singled to the right side to bring home Emma Horton, who pinch ran for Kernen. Barrett added two more RBIs with a double to center field that scored Withee and Henshaw to give Tulsa a 9-0 lead.

Mackenzie Hauser (1-3) pitched 3.0 innings giving up nine runs, eight earned runs, on eight hits and four walks and one strikeout. Chelsea Lisikatos pitched the final inning and Samantha Slade recorded the only hit of the game for the 49ers with a bunt single to the catcher, the second batter in the game.

The Golden Hurricane concludes the three-game series against the 49ers on Sunday at noon at the Collins Softball Complex.
