TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa used a walkoff home run and a three-hit shutout to take both games of its doubleheader against Memphis, 4-2, and, 2-0, Friday at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

Lacey Middlebrooks' frozen-rope two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning of game one gave Tulsa a 4-2 victory. Aimee Creger (13-2) earned the complete-game win for the Golden Hurricane, which improved its record to 26-7 overall and 10-1 in C-USA play.

Middlebrooks (10-3) pitched a three-hit shutout in game two and Caitlin Everett and Cassidy Bowen each had one RBI, as TU defeated Memphis, 2-0. Jordan Richwood (3-8) took the game two loss for the Tigers (11-29, 2-12 C-USA).

"We got two good pitching performances today," Tulsa Head Coach John Bargfeldt said. "In the first game, I thought we hit the ball pretty well, but we just didn't close the inning out. We had several hits and several opportunities, but we just didn't get the clutch one when we needed it, until the end. In the second game, we just expanded the zone more than I would have liked, but Lacey pitched a solid game. She pitched her way out of trouble and kept a goose egg on them, and that was good to see in a tight ballgame so we could push a couple of runs across."

Bowen broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning of game two when she launched her third home run of the season over the left field fence.

Everett doubled to right center in the fifth inning, scoring Emma Horton to push the TU lead to 2-0. Horton came on as a pinch runner for first baseman Julie Kernen, who led off the inning with a walk.

Middlebrooks struck out six batters and pitched around three hits, two walks and a pair of errors to keep the Tigers off the board. The Tigers had runners in scoring position in three innings - including at second and third with one out in the third inning - but the Hurricane got out of the jams each time.

The third and final game of the series will be played at noon Saturday at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
