Cowgirls and Golden Hurricance Go Overtime, Again
April 15, 2003
Tulsa, Okla. - Normally, sequels are not as good as the originals. That point was proven for Golden Hurricane fans on Tuesday night as Oklahoma State and Tulsa played for the second time this season. The setting was a little different, at the Donna J.Hardesty Sports Complex on the TU campus, instead of Stillwater. The outcome was the same, with Cowgirls win in extra innings. The score was a little different, 8-2 this time around, before a crowd of 448.
Like the first game, Tulsa took an early 2-0 lead off OSU starter Sara Seagraves. However, TU would not score again. Seagraves did allow 10 Hurricane hits, but she left 12 Tulsa runners on base.
Sophomore Ami Day pitched the first nine and a third innings for Tulsa, allowing four earned runs in her ninth loss of the season. The Cowgirls scored six runs in the top of the tenth inning thanks to two homeruns, two doubles and a pair of singles.
Fellow sophomore Holly Reynolds was one of seven Golden Hurricane batters to record at least on hit. Reynolds posted three singles, while Stacey Walkingstick contributed two hits. Freshman Katie Torres blasted her seventh homerun of the season to left center, bouncing once on Sixth Street.
Tulsa will conclude the week with a four game series at Hawai`i.
