STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State scored five runs in the sixth inning to defeat Tulsa, 8-3, Wednesday evening at Cowgirl Stadium.

The Golden Hurricane fell to 30-10 overall, while the Cowgirls improved to 22-16 on the season.

Third baseman Jill Barrett was 3-for-4 in the game with two RBI and extended her hitting streak to a school record 21 games. She surpassed Julia Shafer, who hit safely in 20 straight games from the end of the 2005 season through the beginning of the 2006 season.

Center fielder Caitlin Everett was 3-for-4 with a run, catcher Cassidy Bowen singled and scored, and left fielder Cierra Hughes walked a scored a run for TU.

Lacey Middlebrooks (13-4) pitched 5.2 innings and struck out six, allowing seven earned runs and eight walks. Kat Espinosa (13-8) entered with the game tied and earned the win in relief after throwing the final 2.0 scoreless innings. OSU starter Simone Freeman pitched 5.0 innings and struck out seven, allowing five hits and three runs.

Tulsa broke a scoreless tie and got its first baserunner in the third inning when Hughes drew a walk, and was followed by a bunt single by Everett and RBI base hit past the pitcher by Barrett.

Oklahoma State took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI double by center fielder Kelsey Anchors and single by first baseman Julie Ward. Second baseman Ari Morrison led off the inning with a base hit.

The Cowgirls added a run in the fourth inning when designated player Amy Graham led off with a walk and moved around to score on an RBI single by Morrison.

TU manufactured two runs in the fifth to tie the score at 3-3. Bowen led off with a single up the middle and was sacrificed to second by Hughes. Everett singled to second base, stole second, and a wild pitch allowed Bowen to score and Everett to advance to third. Barrett then drove a base hit up the middle to score Everett.

OSU took the lead for good with five runs in the sixth inning. The Cowgirls started with a walk, sacrifice bunt, single and fielder's choice, and then drew three straight walks, followed by a two-run single to tally five runs.

The Golden Hurricane plays host to Houston in a big C-USA series Saturday and Sunday. The first game of Saturday's doubleheader against UH will begin at 3:30 p.m., and will be televised by Fox Sports Network. The teams will play a single game Sunday at noon.

Tickets to TU home softball games are $5.00 general admission and can be purchased at the gate. Youth softball girls are admitted FREE when wearing their team jersey/uniform.
