TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa senior Jill Barrett was selected to the Top 50 "Watch List" for the 2014 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, the Amateur Softball Association of America and USA Softball announced Wednesday.

Barrett, an infielder from Greenwood, Ark., was selected to the All-Conference USA first team, the C-USA All-Academic Team, and the NFCA All-Midwest Region team in each of the last two years. She is a three-year starter at third base, and the only player in school history to hit .400 twice.

In 176 career games with the Golden Hurricane, Barrett has compiled a .375 batting average, .424 on-base percentage, a .458 slugging percentage, 221 hits, 81 RBI, 124 runs scored, 23 doubles, four triples, six home runs, and a .958 fielding percentage at the hot corner.

Barrett started all 59 games at third base in 2013 posting a .415 batting average, 83 hits, 42 runs, 31 RBI, 12 doubles, a .515 slugging percentage and a .459 on-base percentage. Her total of 83 hits is a single-season school record. In 2012, Barrett set a school record with a .416 batting average, tallying 79 hits, 43 runs scored and 29 RBI.

The Top 25 Finalists for the 2014 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award will be announced April 9. While an athlete does not have to be on the "Watch List" to be considered for the Top 25, the eventual USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will come from the Top 25 Finalists. The list will be paired down to 10 finalists on May 7 and three finalists on May 21. The award will be announced May 27, prior to the start of the Women's College World Series.

Tulsa opens the 2014 season at the FAU Kick-Off Classic Feb. 7-9, in Boca Raton, Fla. TU plays at the Aggie Classic, Feb. 14-16, in College Station, Texas, and the Georgia Tech-Kennesaw State Crossover Feb. 21-23 in Atlanta/Kennesaw, Ga. The Golden Hurricane plays its home opener with the Tulsa Invitational Feb. 28-March 2 at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
