TULSA, Okla. - The 21st-ranked Tulsa softball team heads to Georgia this weekend for the Georgia Tech/Kennesaw State Crossover Tournament, Feb. 21-23, in Kennesaw and Atlanta, Ga.

The Golden Hurricane (9-1) begins the tournament with a doubleheader Friday at Kennesaw State (4-3) beginning at 2 p.m. at Bailey Park in Kennesaw, Ga. The Hurricane then plays a doubleheader at Georgia Tech (6-1) Saturday beginning at 11 a.m., and concludes the tournament with a single game against Georgia State (4-1) at 9 a.m. Sunday. The games Saturday and Sunday will be played at Shirley Clements Mewborn Field on the campus of Georgia Tech.

The Hurricane is ranked No. 21 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25, and No. 22 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 polls this week. Live stats for the games will be available at www.TulsaHurricane.com.

Tulsa is led in hitting by senior center fielder Cierra Hughes, who hits .435 (10-for-23) with four runs, two doubles, six RBI, a .522 slugging percentage and a .519 OBP. Senior shortstop Jill Barrett, hits .412 (14-for-34) with six runs scored, four RBI, a .441 slugging percentage and a .500 OBP. Sophomore catcher Catherine Horner hits .350 (7-for-20) with a .500 slugging percentage and a .435 OBP. Senior second baseman Shelby Blanton hits .344 (11-for-32) with six runs, two doubles and a .382 OBP. Junior left fielder Erica Sampson hits .333 (9-for-27) with five runs, a double, two home runs, eight RBI, a .593 slugging percentage and a .500 OBP. Freshman DP Jill Roye hits .389 (7-for-18) with two runs, five RBI, a .444 slugging percentage and a .421 OBP.

In the circle, senior Aimee Creger is 3-0 with a 0.64 ERA in 33.0 innings, and has allowed 12 hits, three runs and three earned runs, with 54 strikeouts and 19 walks. Sophomore Caitlin Sill is 2-1 with a 0.74 ERA in 19.0 innings, allowing 14 hits, four runs and two earned runs, with 13 strikeouts and five walks. Junior Bailey Erwin is 3-0 with a 1.07 ERA in 19.2 innings with two saves, and is allowing seven hits, five runs and three earned runs with 13 strikeouts and two walks.

Tulsa hits .295 (80-for-271) with 38 RBI, 35 runs, 14 doubles and four home runs, and has a .391 slugging percentage and a .370 on-base percentage with 29 walks. The Hurricane has a 0.78 team ERA with 80 strikeouts, 26 walks, 33 hits, 12 runs and eight earned runs allowed, and has a .138 opponent batting average.

This will be the first meeting between Tulsa and Kennesaw State, and the first meeting between Tulsa and Georgia Tech. This will be the third meeting between Tulsa and Georgia State. Georgia State leads the series 2-0. The teams last met in 2010, when the Panthers won 5-4. GSU also took a 2-1 win in 2004.
