TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa softball team is in Arlington, Texas, this weekend for the UT Arlington Classic, and opens the tournament Friday at 1 p.m. against Creighton, and plays at 5 p.m. against UTA, at Allan Saxe Field.

The Golden Hurricane also plays Centenary Saturday at 11 a.m. The time and opponent for TU's second game on Saturday and single game on Sunday will be determined by the results of the first two days of the four-team tournament. Gametracker will be available for every game of the tournament, including Tulsa's five games, at www.TulsaHurricane.com.

Tulsa (5-5) enters the weekend hitting .241 (63-for-261) with 23 RBI, 28 runs, eight doubles, two triples and five home runs, and has a .345 slugging percentage and a .310 on-base percentage with 25 walks. The Hurricane has a 2.33 team ERA with 75 strikeouts, 35 walks, 52 hits, 26 runs and 23 earned runs allowed, and has a .206 opponent batting average.

Tulsa is led in hitting by sophomore center fielder right fielder Caitlin Everett who is hitting .424 (14-for-33) with three runs, four RBI and a .472 OBP. Junior second baseman Skylar Swanson hits .444 (4-for-9) with a double, two homers, three RBI and four runs scored, along with a 1.222 slugging percentage and a .583 OBP. Senior outfielder Lauren Menke is hitting .300 (6-for-20) with two doubles, a .400 slugging percentage and a .364 OBP.

In the circle, freshman Aimee Creger is 3-1 with a 1.50 ERA in 23.1 innings, and has allowed 10 hits, seven runs and five earned runs with 36 strikeouts and 13 walks. Sophomore Lacey Middlebrooks is 2-1 with a 1.52 ERA in 27.2 innings, and has allowed 23 hits, seven runs and six earned runs, with 19 strikeouts and 17 walks. Senior Jordan Kinard is 0-3 with a 4.67 ERA and has allowed 19 hits, 12 runs and 12 earned runs, with 20 strikeouts and five walks in 18.0 innings.

 

 

Creighton (4-1) is hitting .248 (28-for-113) with five doubles, 14 RBI, 17 runs, a .292 slugging percentage and a .393 OBP. The Bluejays have a 2.19 team ERA with 33 strikeouts, eight walks, 28 hits, 11 runs and 10 earned runs allowed and a .237 OBA.

Creighton is led by shortstop Liz McKewon, who is hitting .429 (6-for-14) with two doubles, two RBI, four runs, a .571 slugging percentage and a .467 OBP. Third baseman Malloree Grove is hitting .400 (4-for-10) with a .400 slugging percentage and a .538 OBP. Pitcher Becca Changstrom is 3-0 with a 0.47 ERA in 15.0 innings with 20 strikeouts, one walk, five hits, one run, and a .102 OBA.

UT Arlington (5-5) is hitting .256 (65-for-254) with 12 doubles, a triple, eight homers, 35 RBI, 39 runs, a .406 slugging percentage and a .336 OBP. The Mavericks have a 3.26 team ERA with 44 strikeouts, 32 walks, and 67 hits, 40 runs and 30 earned runs allowed and a .266 OBA.

UT Arlington is led by first baseman Rebecca Collum, who is hitting .444 (12-for-27) with four doubles, three homers, 12 RBI, six runs scored, a .926 slugging percentage and a .529 OBP. Center fielder Stephanie Gonzales hits .400 (12-for-30) with four RBI, five runs, and a .486 OBP. Pitcher Callie Collins is 2-1 with a 2.07 ERA in 20.1 innings, and has allowed 12 hits, seven runs and six earned runs with 19 strikeouts, nine walks and a .167 OBA.

Centenary (0-5) is hitting .198 (20-for-101) with five doubles, five RBI, six runs, a .248 slugging percentage and a .274 OBP. The Ladies have a 14.96 team ERA with 19 strikeouts, 27 walks, 53 hits, 49 runs and 41 earned runs allowed and a .427 OBA.

Centenary is led by infielder Chandelle Scott, who is hitting .571 (4-for-7) with a .714 slugging percentage and a .571 on-base percentage. Center fielder Nicole Warren hits .417 (5-for-12) with a .417 slugging percentage and a .462 OBP. Pitcher Lauren Highsmith has thrown 17.0 innings in four starts and has thrown three complete games, allowing 31 runs, 16 strikeouts and 17 walks.

This will be the 18th meeting between Tulsa and Creighton. Creighton leads the series, 13-4. Tulsa won the last meeting, 4-1, in the Tulsa Select Festival in 2009. TU also beat the Bluejays, 7-0, in 2006 and, 3-1, in 2007. Creighton won, 7-2, in 2008. The Hurricane is 3-1 vs. the Bluejays under head coach John Bargfeldt.

This will be the 15th meeting between Tulsa and Texas Arlington. UTA leads the series, 8-6. The Mavericks won last season, 3-2, at the Baylor Getterman Classic. Tulsa won a doubleheader in 2008, 5-1, and, 9-0. The teams split in 2007 with TU winning, 1-0, and UTA winning, 5-0. The Hurricane is 3-2 vs. the Mavs under head coach John Bargfeldt.

This will be the 12th meeting between Tulsa and Centenary. Tulsa leads the series, 8-3. The Golden Hurricane won the last meeting, 6-2, in Shreveport, La., in 2009. The last meeting before that was in 2004, when TU won, 4-2. The Hurricane is 1-0 vs. the Ladies under head coach John Bargfeldt.
