Tulsa Softball Plays at UT Arlington Classic

TULSA, Okla. - The 19th-ranked Tulsa softball team travels to Arlington, Texas, this weekend for the UT Arlington Classic, where it will face the host UT Arlington, Creighton and Lamar, at Allan Saxe Field. Tulsa (11-4) opens the tournament against the host UT Arlington (6-4) at 1 p.m. Friday, and plays Lamar (5-7) at 5 p.m. The Hurricane plays Creighton (5-4) at 11 a.m. Saturday, before the tournament breaks into bracket play Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Gametracker will be available for every game of the tournament.
Tulsa hits .264 (107-for-405) with 55 RBI, 61 runs, 11 doubles, two triples and six home runs, and had a .346 slugging percentage and a .333 on-base percentage with 37 walks. The Hurricane has a 2.09 team ERA with 99 strikeouts, 47 walks, 73 hits, 40 runs and 30 earned runs allowed, and has a .203 opponent batting average. Tulsa is led in hitting by junior third baseman Jill Barrett, who hits .408 (20-for-49) with 10 runs, seven RBI, a .490 slugging percentage and a .453 OBP. Senior Lacey Middlebrooks hits .344 (11-for-32) with five runs, seven RBI, a homer, two doubles, a .500 slugging percentage and a .462 OBP. Senior center fielder Caitlin Everett hits .340 (18-for-53) with 11 runs, a .358 slugging percentage and a .352 OBP. Junior Haley Henshaw hits .326 (15-for-46) with 16 RBI, two home runs, five runs, a .457 slugging percentage and a .367 on-base percentage. Senior shortstop Samantha Cobb hits .304 (14-for-46) with eight RBI, 10 runs, two homers, two triples, one double, a .543 slugging percentage and a .385 on-base percentage. In the circle, Middlebrooks is 5-1 with a 0.53 ERA in 39.1 innings, and has allowed 18 hits, eight runs and three earned runs, with 22 strikeouts and 20 walks. Junior Aimee Creger is 6-1 with a 1.22 ERA in 46.0 innings, and has allowed 30 hits, 10 runs and eight earned runs, with 65 strikeouts and 17 walks. This will be the 15th meeting between Tulsa and UT Arlington. UTA leads the series, 8-7. The teams last played in 2011, a 3-0 Golden Hurricane win in Arlington. The Mavericks' last win in the series came in 2010, 3-2, in Arlington. This will be the second meeting between Tulsa and Lamar. TU leads the series, 1-0. The Hurricane defeated the Cardinals, 11-3, last weekend in Austin. This will be the 20th meeting between Tulsa and Creighton. Creighton leads the series, 13-6. The teams last met in 2011, when the Golden Hurricane took both games in Arlington, Texas, 5-3 and 2-1. TU has won three in a row in the series, including a 4-1 win at home in 2009.
