TULSA, Okla. - The 21st-ranked Tulsa softball team opens Conference USA play this weekend at home with a three-game series against Marshall Saturday and Sunday at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon, and a single game Sunday at 1 p.m. Live video on Hurricane Vision and live stats on Gametracker will be available for all three games at www.TulsaHurricane.com.

The Golden Hurricane enters league play at 16-5 on the season and ranked No. 21 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll and No. 22 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Softball Poll. The Thundering Herd is 10-9 this season heading into the C-USA portion of the schedule.

Tulsa hits .278 (160-for-575) with 80 RBI, 88 runs, 24 doubles, seven triples and 10 home runs, and has a .397 slugging percentage and a .346 on-base percentage with 52 walks. The Hurricane has a 2.01 team ERA with 144 strikeouts, 60 walks, 106 hits, 52 runs and 41 earned runs allowed, and has a .206 opponent batting average.

Tulsa is led in hitting by junior third baseman Jill Barrett, who hits .423 (30-for-71) with 13 runs scored, 12 RBI, a .549 slugging percentage and a .447 OBP. Senior center fielder Caitlin Everett hits .355 (27-for-76) with 15 runs, a .395 slugging percentage and a .372 OBP. Senior Lacey Middlebrooks hits .353 (18-for-51) with eight runs, 11 RBI, three home runs, six doubles, a .647 slugging percentage and a .468 OBP. Junior Haley Henshaw hits .328 (22-for-67) with 19 RBI, two home runs, eight runs, a .478 slugging percentage and a .366 on-base percentage. Senior shortstop Samantha Cobb hits .277 (18-for-65) with 11 RBI, 14 runs, three homers, three triples, one double, a .523 slugging percentage and a .360 on-base percentage.

 

 

In the circle, Middlebrooks is 6-2 with a 1.06 ERA in 59.1 innings, and has allowed 36 hits, 14 runs and nine earned runs, with 40 strikeouts and 27 walks. Junior Aimee Creger is 9-1 with a 0.99 ERA in 63.1 innings, and has allowed 40 hits, 12 runs and nine earned runs, with 90 strikeouts and 21 walks.

Marshall hits .252 as a team (118-for-469) with 74 runs scored, 64 RBI, 22 doubles and 12 home runs, a .388 slugging percentage and a .344 on-base percentage. The Thundering Herd pitchers have a 2.37 ERA with 155 strikeouts, 73 walks, 85 hits, 67 runs and 43 earned runs allowed, and a .182 opponent batting average.

Tulsa and Marshall have played 23 times. TU leads the series, 17-6. The Golden Hurricane has won 13 of the last 15 meetings, dating back to 2008. All 23 meetings have come since 2006 while both schools have been members of Conference USA.
