TULSA, Okla. - The 20th-ranked Tulsa softball team opens Conference USA play with a three-game series at Marshall Saturday and Sunday at Dot Hicks Field.

The Golden Hurricane (21-3, 0-0 C-USA) and Thundering Herd (6-15, 1-2 C-USA) play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon CT, and a single game Sunday at noon CT. Live video and live stats will be available on www.TulsaHurricane.com.

The Hurricane won five of six games last week, with a victory over Liberty, three over Western Illinois, and one against Arkansas. Marshall dropped two of three in a league series at Florida Atlantic.

No. 21 Softball Completes Weekend Sweep of Marshall
Aimee Creger tossed 11 strikeouts in a one-hitter to lead the 21st-ranked Tulsa softball team to an 8-0, five-inning, win over Marshall Sunday at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

Tulsa is ranked No. 20 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 and the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 polls, released March 11.

Tulsa hits .331 (213-for-643) with 120 RBI, 136 runs, 36 doubles, six triples and 17 home runs, and has a .485 slugging percentage and a .413 on-base percentage with 82 walks. The Hurricane has a 1.17 team ERA with 181 strikeouts, 53 walks, 100 hits, 32 runs and 27 earned runs allowed, and has a .176 opponent batting average.

Tulsa is led in hitting by senior shortstop Jill Barrett, who has a .500 (42-for-84) batting average with 19 runs scored, 12 RBI, a .667 slugging percentage and a .533 OBP. Freshman DP Jill Roye hits .400 (20-for-50) with six runs, 17 RBI, a .520 slugging and a .483 OBP. Senior center fielder Cierra Hughes hits .367 (22-for-60) with 12 runs, four doubles, 15 RBI, a .467 slugging percentage and a .443 OBP. Junior catcher Erica Sampson hits .344 (22-for-64) with 18 RBI, 18 runs, three doubles, five homers, a .625 slugging and a .517 OBP. Senior second baseman Shelby Blanton hits .308 (24-for-78) with 21 runs, four doubles, eight RBI, and a .341 OBP.



In the circle, senior Aimee Creger is 9-1 with a 1.08 ERA in 71.0 innings, and has allowed 36 hits, 12 runs and 11 earned runs, with 119 strikeouts and 36 walks. Junior Bailey Erwin is 7-0 with a 0.88 ERA in 47.2 innings with two saves, and is allowing 31 hits, eight runs and six earned runs with 31 strikeouts and five walks. Sophomore Caitlin Sill is 5-2 with a 1.63 ERA in 43.0 innings, allowing 32 hits, 12 runs and 10 earned runs, with 31 strikeouts and 12 walks.

Tulsa and Marshall have played 26 times. Tulsa leads the series, 20-6. All 26 games have been played since 2006. The Golden Hurricane swept the Thundering Herd last season on the opening conference weekend in Tulsa, 6-0, 9-6 and 8-0. The Hurricane has won six straight in the series, and 14 of the last 15 meetings since 2009. TU is 8-4 against Marshall in Huntington.
