Softball Opens Home C-USA Play against East Carolina

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa softball team is back in town for its Conference USA home opener against East Carolina Saturday and Sunday at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
The Golden Hurricane (16-6, 2-1 C-USA) and Pirates (10-14, 0-0 C-USA) play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m., and a single game Sunday at noon. Live video via Hurricane Vision and live stats via Gametracker for all three games will be available at www.TulsaHurricane.com.
Tulsa is hitting .319 (194-for-608) with 112 RBI, 122 runs, 29 doubles, seven triples and 15 home runs, and has a .464 slugging percentage and a .390 on-base percentage with 66 walks. The Hurricane has a 2.12 team ERA with 141 strikeouts, 86 walks, 127 hits, 72 runs and 44 earned runs allowed, and has a .233 opponent batting average.
Tulsa is led in hitting by junior shortstop Samantha Cobb, who is hitting .397 (31-for-78) with 25 RBI, 23 runs, six home runs, a .718 slugging percentage and a .429 on-base percentage. Junior center fielder Caitlin Everett is hitting .385 (30-for-78) with 24 runs, 11 RBI, a .474 slugging percentage and a .442 OBP. Sophomore third baseman Jill Barrett hits .372 (29-for-78) with 20 runs, 13 RBI, and a .417 OBP. Senior infielder Skylar Swanson has 25 RBI and hits .333 with four doubles, four homers and a .619 slugging percentage and a .442 OBP.
In the circle, junior Lacey Middlebrooks is 6-2 with a 1.46 ERA in 57.2 innings, and has allowed 47 hits, 23 runs and 12 earned runs, with 47 strikeouts and 30 walks. Sophomore Aimee Creger is 7-2 with a 2.53 ERA in 55.1 innings, and has allowed 32 hits, 22 runs and 20 earned runs, with 71 strikeouts and 40 walks. Sophomore Kalynn Schrock is 3-2 with a 2.62 ERA and has allowed 48 hits, 27 runs and 12 earned runs, with 23 strikeouts and 16 walks in 32.0 innings.
East Carolina hits .256 (162-for-632) with 87 RBI, 106 runs, 15 doubles, six triples and 12 home runs, and has a .356 slugging percentage and a .324 on-base percentage with 51 walks. The Pirates have a 4.33 team ERA with 55 strikeouts, 54 walks, 207 hits, 118 runs, and 97 earned runs allowed and a .311 opponent batting average.
Tulsa and East Carolina have played 17 times; ECU leads the series, 9-8. The Pirates have won five of the last seven games, including three of four last season in Greenville, plus the C-USA Tournament championship game. The Golden Hurricane won six of the previous 10 matchups. TU last played ECU in Tulsa in 2008, and is 5-2 against the Pirates at home.
