TULSA, Okla. - The 17th-ranked Tulsa softball team plays host to Charlotte in a three-game Conference USA series Saturday and Sunday at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

This is the C-USA home opener for the Golden Hurricane (25-3, 3-0 C-USA), which meets the 49ers (10-12, 2-4 C-USA) in a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. and a single game at noon Sunday. Live video and live stats will be available on www.TulsaHurricane.com.

Tulsa is ranked No. 17 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll and No. 19 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 poll, released March 18.

Tulsa hits .337 (258-for-766) with 146 RBI, 167 runs, 43 doubles, seven triples and 23 home runs, and has a .501 slugging percentage and a .414 on-base percentage with 92 walks. The Hurricane has a 1.27 team ERA with 218 strikeouts, 62 walks, 117 hits, 41 runs and 34 earned runs allowed, and has a .178 opponent batting average.

Tulsa is led in hitting by senior shortstop Jill Barrett, who has a .490 (49-for-100) batting average with 24 runs scored, 14 RBI, a .640 slugging percentage and a .523 OBP. Freshman DP Jill Roye hits .379 (22-for-58) with seven runs, 19 RBI and a .534 OBP. Junior catcher Erica Sampson hits .359 (28-for-78) with 21 RBI, 23 runs, four doubles, six homers, a .641 slugging and a .510 OBP. Senior center fielder Cierra Hughes hits .357 (25-for-70) with 16 runs, four doubles, 17 RBI, a .486 slugging percentage and a .446 OBP. Third baseman Maggie Withee hits .313 (21-for-67) with 12 runs scored, two triples, four RBI and a .373 slugging percentage. Senior second baseman Shelby Blanton hits .311 (28-for-90) with 24 runs, four doubles, 10 RBI, and a .400 OBP.



In the circle, senior Aimee Creger is 11-1 with a 1.30 ERA in 80.2 innings, and has allowed 41 hits, 17 runs and 15 earned runs, with 139 strikeouts and 45 walks. Junior Bailey Erwin is 8-0 with a 0.97 ERA in 58.0 innings with four saves, and is allowing 41 hits, 11 runs and eight earned runs with 40 strikeouts and five walks. Sophomore Caitlin Sill is 6-2 with a 1.60 ERA in 48.0 innings, allowing 35 hits, 13 runs and 11 earned runs, with 39 strikeouts and 12 walks.

Tulsa and Charlotte have played twice. Tulsa leads the series 2-0. Both games were played in 2002, with the Hurricane picking up 2-0 and 3-2 neutral-site victories.
