TULSA, Okla. - The 18th-ranked Tulsa softball team plays a non-conference midweek contest at Central Arkansas at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Farris Field in Conway, Ark.
Tulsa (26-6-1, 6-0 C-USA) is ranked No. 18 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 and No. 19 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Top 25 polls. The Bears (21-11, 5-4 Southland Conference) last played on March 20 when they dropped a conference series at Houston Baptist. UCA is 7-5 in its last 12 games. Tulsa is led in hitting by junior third baseman Jill Barrett, who hits .412 (47-for-114) with 27 runs scored, 20 RBI, a .526 slugging percentage and a .452 OBP. Senior center fielder Caitlin Everett hits .358 (44-for-123) with 31 runs, a .398 slugging percentage and a .383 OBP. Senior Lacey Middlebrooks hits .329 (28-for-85) with 14 runs, 19 RBI, five home runs, 10 doubles, a .624 slugging percentage and a .447 OBP. Junior Haley Henshaw hits .326 (30-for-92) with 26 RBI, two home runs, 11 runs, a .446 slugging percentage and a .374 on-base percentage. Senior shortstop Samantha Cobb hits .318 (34-for-107) with 28 RBI, 24 runs, five homers, four triples, four doubles, a .570 slugging percentage and a .398 on-base percentage.
In the circle, junior Aimee Creger is 13-1 with a 0.84 ERA in 91.1 innings, and has allowed 57 hits, 15 runs and 11 earned runs, with 136 strikeouts and 31 walks Middlebrooks is 11-2 with a 1.45 ERA in 91.2 innings, and has allowed 62 hits, 30 runs and 19 earned runs, with 64 strikeouts and 49 walks.
Central Arkansas hits .332 (293-for-882) with 215 runs, 193 RBI, 68 doubles, five triples, 25 home runs, a .506 slugging percentage and a .401 on-base percentage. The Bears pitching staff carries a 3.41 team ERA, allowing 203 hits, 132 runs, 97 earned runs, 50 walks, 204 strikeouts and a .258 opponent batting average.
Tulsa and Central Arkansas have played six times. Tulsa leads the series, 5-1. The Golden Hurricane won last season in Tulsa, 1-0. TU also won twice in 2007 and at UCA in 2008. The Bears won on a neutral field in 2010, 4-3.
TU plays host to UCF for a three-game Conference USA series this weekend. The Hurricane and Knights play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Friday, and a single game at 11 a.m. Sunday that will be televised by Fox Sports Network.
