TU Sporting Events on KWTU/HD Hurricane Spirit RadioMarch 29, 2007 Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa athletic department and TU's public radio station KWTU has now teamed up to broadcast TU sporting events on "Hurricane Spirit Radio" in high definition. KWTU Radio began broadcasting Golden Hurricane softball games this spring. High Definition (HD Radio) allows an FM station to broadcast three separate programming options on one frequency. In order to listen, a person must own an HD radio receiver to pick up this specialized programming. HD radios can be purchased at Radio Shack locations and online at most electronic stores. HD radios for automobiles are available at many car accessory stores. "HD radio is cutting-edge technology that simply brings you more radio channels with a whole new spectrum of unmatched fidelity and flawless sound that you receive from digital equipment," said Frank Christel, Director of Broadcast Services for KWTU HD radio is not satellite radio, but is locally broadcast with local content. HD radio does not require a subscription fee. "With the added programming options at TU, it makes sense for us to satisfy our fans by getting more coverage of our athletic teams on radio," said TU Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham. "It's terrific that we're able to take advantage of this new technology and work with KWTU to provide our alumni and fans with live broadcasts of more TU sports." The TU softball games will be broadcast on FM88.7-HD3, KWTU/Hurricane Spirit Radio. The remaining TU softball games to be aired are: Opponent, Date, Airtime
