Barrett and Creger Finalists for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year

TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa seniors Jill Barrett and Aimee Creger have been named as Top 25 Finalists for the 2014 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, the Amateur Softball Association of America and USA Softball announced Wednesday.
Barrett ranks fourth in the nation with a .496 batting average. The Greenwood, Ark., native leads the Hurricane with 38 runs scored, a .657 slugging and a .534 on-base percentage. She has also tallied 23 RBI, seven doubles, three home runs and a .957 fielding percentage.
Creger leads the nation in strikeouts per seven innings (12.8), and ranks fifth in hits allowed per seven innings (2.98) and eighth in ERA (0.93). A native of Yukon, Okla., she is 16-1 with 11 complete games and six shutouts in 18 starts. She has tallied 206 strikeouts and allowed 47 hits, 18 runs, 15 earned runs, 53 walks and a .125 opponent batting average in 112.2 innings this season.
Tulsa, ranked 15th in the country, is one of nine schools represented with two players on the list of finalists, joining Alabama, Arizona State, Florida State, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon, South Alabama and Tennessee.
The list of 25 finalists will be pared down to 10 finalists on May 7. The Top 3 Finalists will be announced on May 21, and the winner of the 2014 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award will be announced on May 27 at the NCAA Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
